Reimagining of Tomorrowland at the Magic Kingdom Starts This Week

Starting this week, changes are being made to Tomorrowland as it prepares for the arrival of TRON Lightcycle Power Run and possibly a larger reimagining.

Part of these changes will include the removal of iCan the Robot. iCan’s final day of performances will be April 7th, 2018.

The long-standing merchandise cart themed to The Claw and Aliens from Toy Story will close on April 8th, 2018. It’s unlikely there will be a replacement as it will be too similar to the upcoming Toy Story Land at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

Enhancements are also being made to the famous Purple Wall in Tomorrowland. These enhancements will be related to the overall repainting of the land. Most of the land will be repainted “crystal white” with some hexagon patterns added in places. The hexagons will become more prevalent near the Purple Wall and will eventually create a barrier around the one area which will remain purple. This will create a “portal” look of sorts, allowing the purple to fit in with the new color scheme of the area.

These changes come in addition to the current expansion of Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe an the repainting of Walt Disney Carousel of Progress, both of which have occured over the last few months.

It will be interesting to see the finished product of the reimagining of Tomorrowland. We will keep you updated on more details as we hear them!
