Busch Gardens Tampa Bay welcomed another baby giraffe to the family over the weekend! Baby Patty is 5’5 tall and weighs 105 lbs. She is the 3rd giraffe calf to be born at Busch Gardens Tampa Bay in the last four months. Guests will soon be able to visit her and her mother, Bititi, on the Serengeti plain.
This birth is a part of Busch Gradens’ participation in the Association of Zoos and Aquariums’ (AZA) Species Survival Plan (SSP). The mission of the SSP is to cooperatively manage threatened or endangered species’ populations within AZA-accredited facilities. Busch Gardens’ participation helps create genetically diverse, self sustaining populations to guarantee the long-tern future of these animals.
