In celebration of his big day, Disney has revealed Mickey’s official birthday portrait.
The portrait, titled “Spreading Happiness Around the World,” was created by legendary Disney animator Mark Henn. Henn has worked on films such as “The Little Mermaid, “The Lion King” and “Mulan.”
“It is one of the great honors of my career to be asked to paint Mickey’s 90th birthday portrait,” Henn said. “I was greatly inspired by John Hench. I wanted to capture some of the same style and sense of youth that John achieved in his portraits.”
The portrait will appear on the Fall 2018 cover “Disney twenty-three,” a quarterly publication sent to gold members of Disney’s fan club D23.
Mickey Mouse made his big screen debut in 1928’s “Steamboat Willie” and has since become one of the most recognized characters around the world
